The Montgomery County Board of Education named Bellingrath Jr. High School principal Dr. Antoine Rafael Richardson as the district’s new Middle School Executive Director at a special called meeting on Friday. “I’m pleased to recommend Dr. Richardson for this position,” said Superintendent Barbara Thompson. “He has demonstrated that he has the ability to use research-based methods to impact student achievement and he understands the critical role professional development has on developing strong teachers. He’s not afraid to meet challenges head-on and find workable solutions.”
Richardson has more than 13 years experience in education. He was principal of Bellingrath Jr. High School for three years, and has held positions as adjunct instructor at Alabama State University, assistant principal at Lee High School, and graduate research assistant at the Truman Pierce Institute at Auburn University. In addition, he was a grade 6-12 classroom teacher at the Department of Youth Service’s Lurleen B. Wallace School.
He holds a bachelor’s in biology, a master’s in science education, and certification in K-12 school administration from Alabama State University. He holds an education specialist degree and a doctorate in elementary and secondary administration from Auburn University.
